Phobia - All That Remains 7"

Probably my favorite stuff from Phobia. Old school Grind with a touch of bad recording.

Yaotl Mictlan

In the true spirit of Black Metal these guys are highly influenced by their native Mexican folklore. They use Mayan instruments in their songs and their lyrics focus on native struggles. Also in the true nature of Black Metal the songs are really long so the album comes in at a little over an hour.

This is taken from their Myspace page.

"The reason for Yaotl Mictlan’s existince is actualy non-political, even though the individual band members themselves have strong political ideals. Yaotl Mictlan is a flag in which we express our Mexica, Mayan cultural history that was burnt by the Christian European that colonized Mexico/Anahuac. This History that for 500 years has been laying dormant in the form of glyphs, frescos, and stone sculputures in our sacred temples and single pieces that survived the inquisition of our America Latina.

These rescued forms of written history that our ancestors left us, combined with oral traditions that have been passed on for many generations make up our lyrics. Our lyrics include some of the creation stories, historical battles, cultural identity , the gods and their role in daily life along with their promise to their return."

MUERTE AL CRISTO BLANCO

All Systems Fail

Punk band from Salt Lake City featuring a bunch of old farts that had A LOT to do with building the punk scene in Utah. Their drummer actually played with Aus-Rotten for a bit. He played drums on the Fuck Nazi Sympathy 7" and maybe another recording but not sure. This is their half of a split with What if Gods Lie but I'm not a big fan of them so I'll just put this up. If you like this I highly suggest buying their LP, it's really great.

Hellshock - Only The Dead Know The End of War

Great crust band from PDX. When LC played with these guys, the only thing I had heard about them is that the bassist was in From Ashes Rise, and I love those guys so I was naturally all about Hellshock. This is probably the easiest album to find from these guys, it was the only one they even had at their show. Anyhow, download and enjoy extremely loud.

storm of the lights bane

from wikapedia

In 1997, Jon Nödtveidt was convicted of helping murder a 38-year old homosexual man in Gothenburg. He was released in the autumn of 2004. Nödtveidt formed a new line-up for Dissection with none of the previous members participating. Subsequently, Dissection recorded one two-track EP entitled Maha Kali and toured heavily with the "The Rebirth of Dissection" tour. In 2006, Dissection released their third full length album "Reinkaos" through their own label, in association with The End Records. The lyrics in the Reinkaos album contain magical formulae from the book, and are based on the teachings of the "Misanthropic Luciferian Order"[2] founded by Nödtveidt, of which some others in the group were members. Shortly after the release, in May 2006, in an online chat interview, Dissection announced plans to split following a short tour, including only two US dates (Though the US dates were cancelled due to Nödtveidt's incarceration, forbidding him from entering).

The band played its final European concert in Stockholm on Midsummer, 24 June 2006.

On August 16, 2006, frontman Jon Nödtveidt committed suicide. Nödtveidt's death was confirmed by the Swedish distributor Sound Pollution, whose staff has worked with Dissection throughout the band's career. Media reports had the man's body next to a copy of The Satanic Bible. However it was believed to in fact be a copy of a grimoire Liber Azerate written by Frater Nemidal, leader of the MLO. A posting on the Sound Pollution web site [1] reads: "RIP Jon Nödtveidt 1974-2006. Condolences from Sound Pollution & Black Lodge."

The vocalist of Dissection, Jon Nödtveidt, was one of the founders of the Misanthropic Luciferian Order in 1995[3], since renamed to Temple of the Black Light. Some members of Dissection were very involved in the group. One bassist pulled out of Dissection, saying it was partly in order to concentrate on his esoteric studies.[4] The MLO planned to release Liber Azerate, a grimoire written by MLO Magister Templi "Frater Nemidial" in 2002.[3] It was released on the internet in Swedish and Norwegian. Azerate is the hidden name of the "eleven Anti-cosmic gods", as described in the book.

The Temple of the Black Light believe in "Chaosophy". They believe that Chaos is the plane and/or power with infinite amounts of space and time, containing all dimensions, in contrast to cosmos, which only has three spatial dimensions and one linear time dimension. It is ever-changing.

Extreme militant nihilism is taught within the group, and they say the true satanist is not part of the modern society, as it is founded upon lies.

They believe in three forces, three dark veils - chaos, emptiness and darkness, which were expelled from Ain Sof in order to make way for the manifestation of The Black Light in The Outer Darkness that soon became Sitra Ahra. The three forces are the three steps back to a mysterious chaos.

These forces are above the Thaumitan, a two-headed god who allows the connection to the spiritual world. Members of the MLO seek to make that connection and channel the Black Light.

The Temple of the Black Light also believe there are eleven aeons; those of Moloch, Beelzebuth, Lucifuge Rofocale, Astaroth, Asmodeus, Belfegor, Baal, Adramelech, Lilith, Naamah and Satan. Azerate is eleven united as one, and these forces combined are those revered by the MLO/Temple of the Black Light.

Some former members of Dissection have gone on to form other bands, also influenced by their beliefs based on the MLO.

Led Zeppelin I

The way I look at this album is that it's not really Led Zeppelin. Don't get me wrong, I love Led Zeppelin but this album seems to be more genuine than the others. It was before Jimmy Page made a fool of himself wearing those kimonos, before Robert Plant was known as a sex symbol, and before John Bonham wore those dumb ass rhinestone bandannas. I can't really say much about John Jones, he seemed like a pretty straight forward musician and all about business. Listening closely you can really see where a lot of the "stoner" bands pulled influence.

Gorgoroth - Twilight of the Idols

I just got this LP today and I figured I'd share it.
This one happens to be my personal favorite Gorgoroth album with the exception of Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam. The Gaahl Gorgoroth is a little more refined I guess and seems to be more genuine than earlier recordings. In my opinion, Gorgoroth is the real deal when it comes to Black Metal. With the scene full of people just wanting to freak people out and offend, Gorgoroth not only talks the talk but walks the walk. Stories of Gaahl torturing someone for 6 hours and forcing him to drink his own blood really makes this music (to me anyway) absolutely, most definitely, fucking brutally honest. Hail Satan.

Doomsday 1999 (RIP)

Zack Carlson (vocals), Brandon Nakamura (guitar, vocals), Travis Nakamura (drums) Doomsday 1999 was a three piece grindcore/thrash metal/comedy act from Seattle, WA. They played their final show and disbanded on the chosen date of 06/06/06.

Holy crap I love this band!I hear the brothers are now some kind of contractors in Seattle and Zack is touring the country showing people the worlds worst movies in the place they were filmed. A friend of mine saw him in Morgan, Utah where he was showing Troll 2. Another group my band had the pleasure of playing with multiple times and let me tell you, I've never laughed so much in entire life than when we got to hang out with these guys. Do yourself a favor and download both of these albums, even if you don't like the music you'll probably have a good laugh over the track titles.

Tom Waits - Mule Variations

Good old Tom Waits! I don't know why it took me so long to get one of his albums, I think the first time I heard Big in Japan I just wasn't ready for it and I never gave it another thought. But one day I was driving home from work and was listening to community radio when they played a few tracks from Mule Variations and I really liked it. I've heard his songs here and there and liked it but never thought to check deeper into it.

Loiter Cognition - 2006 Demo

Mi Bando's 2006 demo! This is probably some of our best stuff right here. It's raw brutality almost compares to the live show. We have been compared to a lot of bands but I think we have a sound of our own. Our singer is a math teacher and is really into numbers so we have odd time signatures, he also is really into folk music so there is a little of that. For the most part we really just write what comes naturally. Check us out and if you dig it, go ahead and download this. Artwork by Joshua Faulkner (our singer)features a molotov coke bottle being thrown at a "FAL*PART" store, Mickey Mouse getting curb checked, the NBC logo getting decapitated my the CBS logo, Ronald McDonald is hanging from a tree, and Joe Camel blowing his brains out. CORPRACIDE!

OCEAN - Pantheon of the Lesser

Since this album just barely came out, I'm not going to put the link up for download. These dudes are not only an amazing but they are way awesome to talk to. My band got a chance to play with them a little over a year ago in Salt Lake City and they blew me away, I could watch them or listen to them for hours, and it's easy to because both of their albums come in at about an hour each with two tracks per album. So if you like very slow doom, i.e. Ahab, Mournful Congregation, White Horse...ect. you should probably buy this

Graves At Sea - Documents of Grief

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this blog when I started it, but I decided I'm going to have my itunes pick a random album and I'll put it up for download and maybe explain the album a bit.

So here it is, my first blog.

Graves At Sea - Documents of Grief
Originally released in 2003, 4 song EP coming in at 30 minutes of pure sludgy doom. I have the re-release of this album, I think all they changed was the art work. Good thing because its a lot better and it's by one of my favorite artist David V. D’Andrea.
